טילון בנאמיביה

קבלתי בדואר פניה מפתיעה מאספן מנמיביה שמצא טילון ICM ישראלי. שם , בנמיביה !!
כמורן השבתי לו והוא ביקש סקירה היסטורית על תולדות ICM בארץ.
לפני שאכתוב באנגלית בעצמי משהו מבוסס על מה שחברים כתבו בעבר , שואל אני האם למישהו יש חומר באנגלית על הטילון שאני אוכל לשלוח אליו?

בהמשך תמליל ההתכתבות עד עכשיו:

I understand from your website that you are involved in the Vespa Club and wondered if you, or one of your members, could help.
I found the attached moped in the trash in Windhoek, Namibia, and am now trying to collect information on these bikes from the web - which is very limited .
Apparently these mopeds were built by Israel Cycling Manufacture situated in the Tzora Kibbutz in 1957(?) which later manufactured bicycles and even later furniture under the name of Tzora Furniture Ltd.
From the markings you will see a clear ICM (Israel Cycling
Manufacture), a
Camel as emblem as well as the word "Tylon" (?).

As a member of the Old Wheelers Club of Namibia I am very curious about the origins of this moped. Can anybody help as to the "story" of these mopeds and maybe the model / year of manufacture etc.

Thank you for visit our site, I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Regarding ICM Tylon you are absolutely right in your deduction and your investigation is correct.
We have many Tylons in our club that usually are exposed in our meetings. All of them were restored and work properly.
Because in our country those mopeds were very popular in the sixties, is frequent that we find abandoned units in many old houses and garages.
Parts are not produced any more but many restorers own wrecked and abandoned units in order to get replacement parts.
Is amazing that you find an exemplar in your country; may be it was brought by an Israeli employee that works there?

Do you have any idea over which period the ICM Tylon were produced?
Our club is 25 years old and are busy launching a book on old cars and bikes. I intend to publish an article in this magazine. So any additional information you guys can give me is really appreciated.

As far as I know, these mopeds were manufactured as from 1959 not before.
The first models were very similar to the British Norman Nippy

In comparison to ICM, the first models were manufactured with single seat, however because of the local demand,the later models were with double seat

Under the seat you will find the chassis Nr. please send this to me or write here in our forum
I can help you to identify it provided it is produced between 1959-1971

8114. The number is pre- and post-ceded by the ICM "camel logo".

אני מקווה ששם לא חם כמו פה.
אכן צדקת.
בדקתי בניירת שיש לי, ואכן הטילון הספציפי הזה הוא מודל 1967, הדגם הזה המשיך בצורה שלו עד 1971
זאת ועוד
הדגם הזה נרשם במשרד הרישוי בסימול MK6.
המנוע שהורכב בו הינו 47 סמ"ק 2.4 כ"ס לבלימה.
בטילונים הראשונים שיוצרו הורכבו מנועים זהים אך בנפח של 1.6 כ"ס לבלימה.

You were right.
I checked my paperwork and indeed Joern's Tylon is a model of 1967, this model was produced with the same shape up to 1971
Moreover
This model was recorded at the License Bureau with coding MK6.
The engine that was assembled in, is 47 cc with 2.4 bhp.
the engines that were assembled in the first production in 1959 of the Tylonim, were with the same CC but with 1.6 bhp.
